Hour Children Fall 2020 Newsletter: For our women in Bedford Hills and Taconic Correctional Facilities, the past months have been especially difficult. With the emergence of COVID19, all of Hour Children’s visiting and parenting programs were placed on pause. Staff were not able to enter the facilities; children could not come for visits; and packages from friends and family were not permitted. For the first time, our Bedford Hills Summer Program had to be cancelled. Yet, these women were in the minds and hearts of many. Hour Children, Interfaith Prison Project and the Prison Relations Advisory Committee to the Town of Bedford came together to offer help. Through an outreach initiative called Operation Neighborhood, items such as toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, underwear, stationery, coffee packets, ramen noodles, colored pencils, crayons, and books were brought to the women of Bedford Hills and Taconic. With the support and generosity of many, life for our women was made easier and their dignity affirmed. Our gratitude to all who made Operation Neighborhood a success!
